After a quarter century in the commercial finance industry, I had an opportunity to return to college following a lifelong dream to earn my bachelors degree and teachers certification at the age of 50. The earth is a wonderful place and I have learned so much about it and still strive to learn more. I am passionate about seismology, knowing the tragic impact violent earthquakes cause on the peoples of the world. Education is the door that opens up choices. My choice is to devote time and energy to the education of others. Having gone through the majority of my life without an education and limited choices, I can attest to the fact that an education has afforded me with many more choices than I thought could exist, and best of all, I get to pick, instead of others picking for me. The enthusiasm for learning, the aspiration for success, the desire to improve are the characteristics I admire among our Williams Preparatory Scholars.
