Social & Emotional Learning

  • At Uplift, developing our scholars and staff socially and emotionally is equally as important as developing them academically.  It is our goal to not only help our scholars be prepared for college, but also be globally-minded citizens who are caring, principled and open-minded.

We have several programs to help achieve these goals:

    Social & Emotional Learning

Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

    Safe Space

Uplift Education Safe Space Logo A Safe Space is a place where anyone can relax and be able to fully express themselves, without fear of being made to feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, or unsafe. Bullying and harassment are not acceptable. Uplift Education respects ALL people regardless of race, ethnicity, gender expression, sexual orientation, socio-economic background, age, religion, and ability.

    Report a suspected bullying incident.

    Student Support Services

The Department of Student Support Services oversees Uplift Education’s wide array of wraparound support programs, mental health and social services, and prevention efforts that contribute to the social-emotional health and well-being of all scholars and their families.  The focus of the department is to offer a high quality, school-based mental health experience for scholars, while also assisting families in accessing other social services and resources outside of the school setting.

    College Race

Uplift Education Equity and Inclusion Logo Uplift is committed to educating on and advocating for all issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion.  We pioneered the College Race Symposium which brought together school districts and colleges for meaningful discussions and action plans to help all students feel welcome and included on college campuses.

    Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training is a multi-year phased training for teaches and staff to help them create an environment of involvement, respect, and connection.

    Owning Up

We are proud to be named as one of the pioneer districts to implement Rosalind Wiseman's Owning Up curriculum.  Owning Up teaches young people to understand their individual development in relation to group behavior, the influence of social media on their conflicts, and the dynamics that lead to discrimination and bigotry.
