I was born and raised in Northern California, about an hour North of San Francisco. I spent much of my high school years volunteering at different youth organizations, helping with everything from counseling to retreat planning for ages ranging from elementary to college.
After graduating from High school in 2007, I spent a year in Northern England working with another youth organization. It was in England where I truly fell in love with history and teaching, and spent the whole year working full time and studying at the University of Wales, Lampeter. I made it my life goal to become a history teacher from then on.
I returned in the summer of 2008 to California and got a second chance at college, where I enrolled in a local Junior College in my home town. While attending classes full time, I also continued my work with junior high and high school students, running after school programs and tutoring. After 2 years, I graduated from junior college with three Associate Degrees in History, Humanities, and Social & Behavioral Sciences with High Honors. And in the Fall of 2010, I transferred to my dream school, the University of California, Berkeley.
At Berkeley, I focused my studies on United States history and Sociology, learning from some of the top professors in their fields. And in the Spring of 2012, I finally graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a Bachelor Degree in History.
Over the next year, I spent time as a tutor and substitute in a K-8 school in California, serving all ages and learning levels. And this summer I accomplished one of my life goals and was hired as a full time teacher at Uplift Luna Preparatory. So I packed up everything and drove here to Dallas, Texas, where I am currently teaching 8th Grade Social Studies.
