Ms. Smith is a native of Long Beach, California. She received her BA from Grambling State University in Louisiana. There, she was very active in campus life and even became the campus' very first plus size pageant winner. During her tenure as a Gramblinite, Ms. Smith implemented several educational forums to help empower students in the community. Also, she coached cheerleading and tutored students in Louisiana, Texas, and California.
In 2007, Ms. Smith founded a non-profit organization and named it RoyalT. RoyalT, which stands for Realizing Our Youths Attributes in Life, Today, is a mentoring program. It uses theatre as an emotional outlet to modify and reduce negative behavioral choices of students in urban communities.
Currently, she is pursuing a double Masters of Education in Teacher Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction. Her anticipated date of graduation is November of
2015. Also, Ms. Smith is the coach and sponsor for the varsity cheerleading squad and teaches Theatre I to 6th and 7th grade scholars. Furthermore, Ms. Smith has a very passionate background in theatre and hopes the 6th and 7th grade scholars at Hampton Preparatory Middle School take full advantage of the endless possibilities it brings.
