    Keep Irving Beautiful TRASH BASH 2016 - Saturday, September 24th from 9am to noon

    The 2016 Trash Bash will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24th from 9a-noon at Richardson Grove Park in north Irving. Volunteers will meet at the park and supplies will be provided (gloves, bags, pickers, etc). Email Mr. Frias (bfrias@uplifteducation.org) if you’d like to join us!

    They will also be collecting canned foods to donate to the BBMOI food pantry, so bring items if you'd like to contribute!

    Check the City of Irving Facebook page for a video from last year’s event! We had over 70 scholars and family members from Infinity and we want even more there this year! Wear any Infinity shirt or a red shirt to represent our group!

    Volunteers Needed for the North Texas Teen Book Festival


    • “Teens in grades 9-12 who want to play a big role in #NTTBF17, earn volunteer hours, and receive free swag can join our team of BFFs! Work sessions on Saturdays at the south Irving Public Library beginning in November.”
    • Things volunteers will do:


      • Work on NTTBF projects and preparations (this could be making buttons, helping with organization, tagging merchandise, preparing author packets, and more!)
      • Helping to spread the word about NTTBF at your school or library
      • Working the day of the festival by live tweeting, posting pictures on Instagram, etc. using #nttbf17

  • Texas Youth Preparedness Council

    Applications Now Being Accepted for the Texas Youth Preparedness Council

    Do you know a high school student who is passionate about emergency preparedness and community resilience? If so, they should apply to be on the Texas Youth Preparedness Council!

    The Texas Youth Preparedness Council is a statewide youth group made up of youth leaders from across the state who are interested in emergency preparedness and making their communities more resilient in the face of potential disasters. The mission of the council is to engage and empower youth in individual and community preparedness activities and roles. The council provides an opportunity for Texas high school students to enhance their knowledge of emergency preparedness and develop leadership skills that will help them in addressing and supporting the needs of their communities in regards to emergency preparedness. Youth will work on local emergency preparedness projects, be an ambassador for youth emergency preparedness on the state level, and provide a unique prospective to state agencies interested in emergency preparedness.

    Those interested in applying to be on the council should visit the Youth Preparedness Council webpage for more information and to complete the online application. Applications are due by September 30, 2016.

  • Community Service Hours Opportunity

    Community Service Hours Opportunity! The North Texas Food Bank is looking for volunteers July 19-23!

    The NTFB has an incredible volunteer opportunity available next week from July 19th to July 23rd. It is called Full on Faith! Many Faiths, One Mission! NTFB dedicates a week to honor our diverse faith based groups who support us in the fight against hunger. You don’t have to be part of a group to participate. The event is very respectful and secular plus a free t-shirt will be given to all participants!

    Each shift listed below is in need of 50 volunteers: 

    Tuesday, July 19th from 9:00 to 11:30 am

    Wednesday, July 20th from 9:00 to 11:30 am

    Wednesday, July 20th from 1:00 to 3:30 pm

    Thursday, July 21st from 9:00 to 11:30 am

    High School Volunteers Needed THIS Sunday, June 26th! Irving Legends Basketball Tournament at Bowie Middle School

    Marquez Haynes, the brother of Ms. Lattin-Haynes (10th Grade World History) is sponsoring a basketball tournament for Irving ISD alumni that will include a skills clinic and All-Star game. She is seeking 10 volunteers who would be interested in working from 9am - 6pm (lunch, snacks, and drinks will be provided) for community service hours.

    Infinity Library Summer Internship Program

    If you are interested in working as a volunteer in the Infinity Library during the summer of 2016, please complete the application below. Hours will vary depending on library hours for the week. We are seeking scholars who are self-starters, enjoy learning, are trustworthy, responsible, and dependable. Some of the responsibilities of a volunteer include: participating in the Irving Library summer reading program, decorating the library, read-a-longs, planning and preparing crafts and activities, checking out books, shelving books, labeling and putting books into the system, creating library systems for middle and high school for the school year, translation of documents (not a requirement), organizing materials, various tasks in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and GoogleDrive, etc.
    Please complete the application by Tuesday, May 24th. Interviews will be scheduled for Thursday, May 26th.
